At 15 Tina dropped out of school, It wasn't long before her occasional drug use turned ugly; abusing prescription medications eventually finding herself addicted to heroin. For the next ten years she was caught up in drugs, a wanted criminal even spending time in Jail. One evening after being released from police custody she stood at Perth Train Station, one train would take her back to her drug dealers house, a path she knew all too well, the other to her parents. The decision she made that night was the beginning of Tina regaining her life. Days later she had a Naltrexone Implant, and began the journey of recovery.

It wasn't long before Tina was clean, and began her life work of helping other young people gain freedom from drug addiction. She spent the next seven years working as the youth director at a rehabilitation centre, where she met hundreds of young people struggling with the addictions she herself had to overcome. Her passion to see others lives rescued from drugs and alcohol addiction began to grow.

A recognized speaker at community events, conferences high schools and youth programs Tina's remarkable recovery from drug addiction and subsequent work with young people saw her inducted into the Inaugural International Women's Day Hall of Fame (Western Australia) in 2011.

It has often been said that prevention is the best cure, as Tina tells her story she isn't afraid to portray ugly side of the drug world and warn young people of how dangerous and slippery the path of drug use is. One day a mentor said to Tina show me your friends and I will show you your future, after being introduced to drugs by her friends, Tina knows the importance of having good friends and has since spent her time pursing healthy friendships.
